There is so much to know about DoorDash and DashPass. If you are new to DoorDash it can be quite overwhelming to get around using the services provided by DoorDash. In this article, I will share with you all the necessary bits and bobs you need to get started.

What is DashPass DoorDash

DashPass is a subscription service on DoorDash. When you subscribe, you will get unlimited deliveries from thousands of eligible restaurants. If you place an order above $12 you won’t pay any delivery. This means you need to spend above $12 to qualify for free delivery even if you have a subscription.

Although, there are some areas in the US where you need to place a minimum order of $10 to qualify for free delivery.

Is DashPass Free

DashPass is not free, although you can get a free trial. DoorDash offers a free trial for users who are new to the service and haven’t use it previously.

To start your free trial, you will need to enter a valid payment method. When your trial finishes you will be automatically enrolled into your selected membership plan and you’ll get charged your first monthly subscription fee.

If you don’t want to get charged, you need to cancel your subscription or completely delete your DoorDash account. You will also lose all your benefits immediately after you cancel your free trial.

How Much is a DashPass

It costs $9.99 for a monthly subscription. And you can cancel your subscription anytime you like.

DashPass SignUp

You can sign up to DashPass either through the mobile app or by using a web browser on your desktop or mobile phone.

Mobile Phone App Users Sign up

If you choose to download the app on your mobile phone, follow the steps below to sign up and have a DashPass membership;

1. Open the app on your mobile phone, if you dont have it installed on your mobile phone, you can download it from PlayStore or AppStore.

2. When you have opened the app on your mobile phone, tap the account icon located at the top left corner of the app’s screen.

3. Next, tap  “Get $0 delivery fees with DashPass”.

4. The benefits you’ll get and a link to the terms and conditions can be found on the “Get DashPass” page.

5. You’ll see a message that says “The recurring monthly charge will be billed to the card you have used to sign up”. You will see the last four digits of the card number displayed on the screen

6. You can choose to change your card payment details at any time. You can do this by tapping the Change tab.

7. If you are happy with the information above and you are happy to sign up, tap the “Get DashPass” to sign up.

8. You will get a confirmation on the app that says you have successfully signed up/subscribed.

Web Browser Users Sign up

The steps for Signing up for a subscription on a web browser is very similar to the app;

1. Log into your DoorDash account on a web browser using either your mobile phone or a desktop/laptop.

2. Tap the account icon at the upper right corner of the web page.

3. Next, choose Get Free Deliveries, from the options presented.

4.The benefits you’ll get and a link to the terms and conditions can be found on the “Get DashPass” page.

How Does DashPass Work

Once you have paid for a subscription or if you sign up for the free trial, you will need to do the following;

1. First, you need to select an eligible restaurant. You will see a green checkmark on the website that confirms eligibility.

2. Next, add the items you want to order to your basket, ensure the total cost meets the minimum spend of $12.

3. If you proceed to checkout without meeting the minimum order amount to qualify for free delivery, the required difference to reach the minimum amount will show on the checkout page.

4. You will also see the savings you have made on the checkout page.

How to Cancel DashPass

If you just want to take a break from DoorDash you could just cancel your subscription instead of deleting your DoorDash account completely. To avoid being charged for the next subscription period, you need to ensure you cancel at least 1 day before the next scheduled subscription renewal date.

Follow the steps below to cancel your subscription.

How to Cancel DashPass in App

1. Open the DoorDash app on your Android or iOS Mobile Phone.

2. Next, tap the Account icon located at the top left of the app home page.

3. Select Manage DashPass, and then tap End Subscription.

4. Confirm you’d like to end your subscription by tapping End Subscription again.

How to Cancel DashPass on a Web Browser

1. On your mobile phone or desktop/laptop, go to doordash.com and click sign in at the top right corner and enter your email and password.

2. Once you’ve signed in, on the home page tap the Account settings tab and then click on Manage DashPass.

3. Next, select End Subscription and then confirm you’d like to end your subscription by tapping End Subscription again

After canceling your subscription, your DashPass benefits will still be valid through the end of the current billing period.

How to Give Someone a Doordash Gift Card

If you want to someone a DoorDash gift card, simply go to the DoorDash gift card purchase page. You’ll need to enter the value of the gift card you wish to purchase in USD, choose the delivery option, enter the recipient’s details and the date you want it sent.
